Healthcare’s Reality

Thanks to improved healthcare, society has entered a progressive state. People are now able to live longer and healthier. But the issue today about healthcare is that there are people calling for reform. Healthcare reform is a vehement, passionate and sometimes uncomfortable topic. And there are people questioning the importance of reform. But obviously, the answer is yes. This is needed these times, but the sad thing is that this call has fallen to deaf ears.

Nowadays, healthcare has become a huge industry, not just in the US but also around the globe. Indeed, the huge amounts of money involved in healthcare are used for a certain purpose - to help people. However, even if it is a noble thing, there’s an economic factor behind this thing. The strange thing about healthcare today is that companies providing them are more concerned about increasing profits. It is no surprise to see healthcare’s costs rising up above the roof.

This sad fate has made healthcare not a service but a business. The quality of care needed for better life and health is now only available to a few people who can afford the premiums. And to those who cannot, the only left for them to do is hope for the best - a wishful thinking that they don’t get sick. Sadly, such thing would not always happen. People who cannot afford healthcare would often be the ones who get sick. When sickness comes, they would have nothing to rely on. You can’t say healthcare is a want. It is a necessity. Each one has a right to avail of healthcare. A person should not need to shoulder a large amount of money in order to have the healthcare he and his family needs. This is why healthcare should be reformed. Healthcare companies should start changing their policies.
